We crossed the Pont au Double (with its love knots) and walked beside The Seine close to Notre Dame. Two young boys were working very hard in the sandpit. Their father read the paper on the bench.

Just found this blog. great stuff as usual. Did you go with a friend or by yourself?

Went with a friend with whom I have travelled on two previous occasions. However, in 2011 I am going by myself as Christine cannot travel abroad again until she gets her Long Service in 2013 and even then she wants to travel to the USA to catch up with old friends.

I am simply going back to Paris until I can no longer travel for 24 hours in a plane.

Is this the little fenced playground on the side or back of ND? My grandchildren had great fun on the seesaw there. I love this photo. The one on the right is working so hard he has his little tongue stuck out! ADORABLE>

Ah, to be back in the day when sandcastles and holes required such concentration.

Paris is a beautiful city. We've been there a few times, first in 1970 when no-one wanted to speak English. Then in 2004 and again in 2008, French people had discovered that English-speaking visitors had money to spend, now suddenly they can converse in English. Je pense, c'est la vie.

Yes, Virginia, it is that little park between ND and the river. Quite secluded really.
